“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” 2Thes11&12 [ESV]
A number of things stood out in these two verses for me this morning – and it made me cry “Lord, make me worthy of the calling you have given me!” Firstly, MY calling – comparison is the thief of joy, I should not be looking at the calling others have on their lives and how they are working that out, that is their calling not mine! Yes, sometimes it helps to know how people have worked things out or handled things in order to to help our own journey – but not to compare journeys. (I’ve fallen down that black hole too many times before!) Secondly, if God has called me to it, He will equip me for it. (Phew!) Also a calling is a gift from God, it may seem like hard work at times but it is also super rewarding. As I was saying last night about prophecy, for me it is life giving and pure joy to be doing what I know God has called me to and using the gifts He has given me…
And these are just my first thoughts. This is such a rich pair of verses!! Get stuck in folks!
