Yesterday my pal @studio.katie reposted this quote from another account (which I should have written down along with the quote! Sorry!) and it popped up in my feed at just the right moment. I was having total – new sketchbook anxiety. Following my previous post about being inspired to create again, I went rummaging and found not one, not two, not three… but five brand new sketchbooks waiting to be filled (and at that point I stopped looking 😳)! So I had choices, where was I going to start? Big blank pages often fill me with fear – it’s why I always watercolour wash all my journal pages, before I even start the journal – and sketchbooks are just the same. I opened up instagram and literally the first story I clicked on was Katie’s with this quote 🥰 and I thought – Yes, experimenting in a new sketchbook and not quite liking the outcome, is not a waste. My watercolours are stone dry in their palette… that is a waste! ❤️ Do you get new sketchbook anxiety, or is it just me? And if you do, how do you get over it?
