I was a little hesitant to book on to journalfest, knowing there would be lots of people there and only knowing two people who were going. I’m quite an introvert, so making small talk and talking to new people does not come naturally to me. I know others had similar worries beforehand, but as one pointed out to me – we all have a shared love, which has brought us to the conference – and I kept telling myself this on the tram into Manchester!

Anxiety pretty much flew out of the window as soon as I arrived outside the venue, I saw the stationery fest sign and excitement took over. I was amazed how many people arrived about the same time as me and said “hi, you look like a journal lover, are you off to journal fest too?” Everyone was just so lovely, welcoming and equally excited. I’m not sure I’ve ever been in such a similar positive and excited atmosphere. I honestly felt really awesome throughout and really inspired, more than I have in a long time, by both the talks, workshops and my fellow attendees. 

Stationeryfest which was running alongside the conference also really impressed me. I had hoped there would be one or two stalls which were ‘my kind’ of stalls, that I could get a few bits and bobs from. Well, I think I bought at least one thing from about 75% of the stalls – and it was more my depleting funds rather than lack of interest that stopped me shopping at every one! I am so impressed with the level of shop and product that had gathered, I’ve never had so much stationery / journaling / planner shopping together in one place before – it was like heaven!

I came away absolutely buzzing and am still processing it all a week later. I simply cannot wait for next years event, and already have friends who want to come with me after hearing how much I enjoyed myself.
